Welcome to the Colorado Historical Foundation

Connecting people with resources to preserve and honor history

Our Mission

Established in 1965, The Colorado Historical Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization, originally conceived to enhance and complement other Colorado entities' efforts to celebrate, preserve, document and promote our state's rich history. The spirit of statewide collaboration and support infuses our core programs today: Preservation Loans, Fund Stewardship, Project Support Services and Historic Preservation Easements.

Through our work, Colorado's treasured buildings and sites are protected, rehabilitated, and revitalized to welcome future generations while connecting to our past. Our programs and the funds we steward make it possible for Coloradans and visitors alike to access and explore Colorado's diverse layers of history through educational programs, experiences, stories and objects. We partner with private parties, public agencies, nonprofit organizations and informal coalitions to bring history to life.
